In a series of high-level meetings held in Seoul, Saudi Arabia and South Korea have strengthened their resolve to enhance cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and technology investment. Leading the Saudi delegation, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Al-Swaha, along with Haytham Al-Ohali, Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, engaged with senior South Korean government officials to explore opportunities for collaboration in areas such as AI, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure.
The discussions between the two nations were centered on fostering innovation, bolstering the digital economy, and advancing Saudi Arabia’s goals to become a major global player in the realm of artificial intelligence. Key topics included the enhancement of digital government services, with a particular focus on unified government platforms, digital identity systems, and leveraging AI to improve public services. The dialogue also involved exploring potential synergies between Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority and South Korea’s Ministry of the Interior.
Beyond governmental talks, Al-Swaha also engaged with the founder and CEO of APL Ventures, aiming to uncover investment opportunities and support for Saudi startups. Discussions focused on strategies to expand these startups’ footprint in international markets while simultaneously encouraging technology investments within the Kingdom.
This visit to South Korea is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to fortify global technology partnerships, attract significant investments, and accelerate the development of an AI-driven digital economy. Such initiatives are pivotal to the Kingdom’s aspirations of positioning itself as a global technology hub, reflecting its commitment to embracing innovation and advancing technological capabilities.
