In a recent meeting chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet strongly condemned a series of Houthi attacks on civilian and economic sites in the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran. The Cabinet labeled these actions as acts of aggression and asserted the kingdom’s right to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens and residents from such threats. Additionally, the ministers denounced the Houthi assaults on commercial vessels and the disruption of international maritime navigation in the Red Sea.
The attacks have reportedly resulted in injuries to over 70 individuals, including women and children, across several Saudi cities. In response, the authorities have been instructed to ensure that those injured receive the highest level of medical care available. This highlights the Saudi government’s commitment to addressing the humanitarian impact of these acts of violence.
During the session in Jeddah, the Cabinet also focused on regional issues, particularly the situation in the Palestinian territories. They discussed ongoing Arab efforts to counter Israeli actions in Jerusalem and the expansion of settlements, emphasizing the need for a concerted effort to address these challenges. The meeting underscored Saudi Arabia’s engagement in regional diplomacy and its role in promoting stability in the Middle East.
A significant development from the meeting was the announcement of an agreement between the Saudi and German foreign ministries to establish a strategic dialogue. This initiative is aimed at enhancing consultation and coordination between the two countries, reflecting a mutual interest in strengthening diplomatic ties. The agreement marks a step forward in Saudi Arabia’s efforts to build strategic partnerships with key international allies.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also briefed the Cabinet on his recent discussions with leaders from Egypt, Greece, and Oman. These discussions are part of ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at fostering closer relations and addressing shared regional concerns. The Cabinet’s meeting highlighted Saudi Arabia’s active role on the global stage, both in terms of defense and diplomatic outreach.
