Saudi Arabia and Serbia are strengthening their ties across various sectors, aiming for enhanced collaboration in energy, technology, agriculture, food industries, and trade. As part of these efforts, recent discussions have focused on joint ventures in energy, advancements in information and communications technology, and agricultural partnerships. Both nations are keen on increasing the presence of Serbian companies in the Saudi market while simultaneously encouraging Saudi investments in Serbia.
In a significant step to facilitate official exchanges, Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Elkhereiji and Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Duric convened in Belgrade to sign an agreement that waives visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and official passports. This move is expected to ease and promote diplomatic interactions between the two countries.
The bilateral trade between Saudi Arabia and Serbia has been on a remarkable upward trajectory. In 2025, trade figures reached $121 million, which is almost nine times higher than the levels recorded in 2012. The momentum continued into 2026, with the first half seeing trade values rise to $130.4 million, marking a 152% increase compared to the same period the previous year.
Looking ahead, the upcoming EXPO 2027 in Belgrade and EXPO 2030 in Riyadh are anticipated to further catalyze investment opportunities, business collaborations, and knowledge exchange. Saudi Arabia has confirmed its participation in EXPO 2027, where it plans to highlight its economic progress, innovation, cultural richness, and attractive investment opportunities. Meanwhile, Serbia is preparing to make a significant impact at the Saudi Food exhibition in Jeddah, with over 50 companies set to participate.
Both nations are also charting paths for cooperation in science and technology, indicating a shared vision for future innovation and development. These growing partnerships reflect both countries’ commitment to building a robust and multifaceted relationship, poised to benefit their respective economies and beyond.
